LeBron James has been one of the best players in the NBA over the last decade and has delivered for whichever teams he has played. However, during the late 2010s era James and his Cleveland Cavaliers side endured their fiercest competition. They faced the star-studded Golden State Warriors side which consisted of great players like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson.
Recently, a 2019 report emerged on the internet regarding James and the Cavs trying to pursue Durant in 2016. This news caught the attention of many basketball fans and ex-players with former NBA player Rashad McCants amongst one of them. McCants, took to X to criticize James following a rumor that James and the Cavaliers attempted to pursue Durant during the 2016 offseason.

This recruitment drive began shortly after the Cavaliers’ dramatic comeback victory over the Warriors in the NBA Finals. However, the Cavs were unsuccessful in their pursuit and Durant remained with the Warriors and won consecutive NBA titles with them.
It’s important to note that, McCant’s post was in reaction to the news, blatantly mocking the notion of James seeking extra star power following such a historic triumph. Also, McCants does not shy away from criticizing James. In the past, he has stated views that appear to undermine James’ achievements, and even in the present, he never leaves an opportunity to do so.
Rashad McCants once made a bold claim regarding LeBron James and Reggie Miller
Over the years, LeBron James has garnered a lot of praise as well as criticism from many in and around the sport. However, one criticism that caught the basketball community’s attention was that of former NBA player, Rashad McCants. Notably, McCants boldly claimed that he respects former NBA star Reggie Miller’s legacy more than James’.
Reggie didn't have nowhere near the pieces that LeBron had during his journey, And I think that if Reggie would have had those pieces, his legacy would have been different.Rashad McCants on the Gil’s Arena Show
McCants’ criticism of James comes especially due to the current Los Angeles Lakers star switching teams throughout his career to win titles.
On the other hand, Miller stayed loyal to the Indiana Pacers throughout his whole 18-year NBA career. In addition, Miller was the 11th overall choice in the 1987 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. He is also one of the considerable all-time greats who did not win a league championship. Hence, McCants holds Miller so highly even above the likes of James’ illustrious career.
